Shattered Globe Theatre Presents the World Premiere of Global Playwright Series Winner
Radial Gradient
by Jasmine Sharma
directed by Grace Dolezal-Ng
January 27 – March 11, 2023, at Theater Wit
Three women enter a research study hoping to create positive change after a hate crime takes place at a liberal university in America. Timelines in 2017 and 2020 intertwine as participants unravel their complicated shared friendships and histories. Jasmine Sharma’s introspective and empowering new play, Radial Gradient, challenges what complicity looks like – what do we do if it looks like us?
The play is in one act and runs approximately 90 minutes.
Performances take place at Theater Wit (1229 W Belmont) where Shattered Globe Theatre is a resident company. Visit this page for information on public transportation to the theater and parking.
For group discounts, please contact Shattered Globe at groupsales@shatteredglobe.org or by phone at 773-770-0333.
“This is the kind of exciting new voice, and potential fresh audience, Chicago theater badly needs.”
“90 minutes of pure action.”
“It’s a play with heartfelt outrage, savvy awareness of complexity and so many details about the Greek ways of doing things.”
“Impactful.”
“Satisfying.”
“An unstinting exploration of the impact of the Greek recruitment system on vulnerable young women, especially women of color.”
“Do equitable ends justify duplicitous means? It’s quite the conundrum! RADIAL GRADIENT exposes the hypocrisy of the well-intentioned.”
Shattered Globe understands that ticket prices can pose a financial burden and, at times, an obstacle for theatregoers. A number of free and sliding scale tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis for students and community members experiencing access barriers to theatre. If you would like to be added to SGT’s Waived Ticket Waitlist, please e-mail lswanson@shatteredglobe.org. Please note: all requests must be completed by 12 pm the Friday before the performance you would like to attend. This e-mail will not be monitored at all on weekends or after 5 pm on weekdays.
